In 2015, Mahindra introduced an app based intra-city cargo platform known as SMARTSHIFT, a load exchange platform for small commercial vehicles.
SmartShift is the Mahindra group's first foray into the consumer internet space. With this venture, Mahindra had sucessfully created a technology enabled load exchange platform and uber-ized logistics in India.

Facilitating the efficiency of operations was the biggest challenge. A key contributor to the same was making the porters feel valued and fairly compensated.
Even though the market was untapped, the app gained a strong foothold since it addressed a vital need. Our research showed that both customers and porters were facing several issues, especially while performing crucial functions. .An empathetic approach was needed as well as a quality fix.

Smart shift was yet to discover its full potential to dominate the market. Our expert research helped Smart Shift understand the root of the problem and address it with the help of a better strategy. We designed an app that provides transparency in earnings to porters and constraints and estimates to customers.
The product was well received in the market, and this was soon reflected in the app store ratings. The onboarding of new porters began to increase, resulting in higher prices for all. Customers began to embrace the payment and scheduling functions as well, without concern about execution.
